Pope Francis said to Congress yesterday, “A political society endures when it seeks, as a vocation, to satisfy common needs by stimulating the growth of its members, especially those in situations of greater vulnerability or risk. Legislative activity is always based on the care of the people. To this you have been invited, called and convened by those who elected you.”
Here’s the rub “to satisfy common needs” someone must first decide what those “common needs” are. The progressives see a completely different set of need that what Conservatives, Libertarians, and Capitalist see as common needs. The former stresses the needs of the collectives, that latter stress the needs of the individual.
I am a Libertarian as well as an Individualist, and believe that there are no group right, only the rights that God gave to the individual.
