Gerald Kaufman MP says his grandmother didn’t die in the holocaust to provide a cover for Israelis killing Palestinian grandmothers today — speaking in the British parlaiment on 5 February 2014
Posted February 23, 2014
I once led a delegation of 60 parliamentarians from 13 European Parliaments to Gaza. I could no longer do that today because Gaza is practically inaccessible. The Israelis try to lay the responsibility on the Egyptians, but although the Egyptians’ closing of the tunnels has caused great hardship, it is the Israelis who have imposed the blockade and are the occupying power. The culpability of the Israelis was demonstrated in the report to the UN by Richard Goldstone following Operation Cast Lead. After his report, he was harassed by Jewish organisations. At the end of a meeting I had with him in New York, his wife said to me, “It is good to meet another self-hating Jew.” Again and again, Israel seeks to justify the vile injustices that it imposes on the people of Gaza and the west bank on the grounds of the holocaust. Last week, we commemorated the holocaust; 1.7 million Palestinians in Gaza are being penalised with that as the justification. That is unacceptable. I found where Kaufman said, “My grandmother was ill in bed when the Nazis came to her home town .. a German soldier shot her dead in her bed. “My grandmother did not die to provide cover for Israeli soldiers murdering Palestinian grandmothers in Gaza. The present Israeli government ruthlessly and cynically exploits the continuing guilt from gentiles over the slaughter of Jews in the Holocaust as justification for their murder of Palestinians.” But other than him saying his grandmother so died the incident cannot be found. He was born in 1930 in England. And like Soros hates the Jewish people.
From the THE JEWISH CHRONICLE ONLINE
“Veteran Labour MP Sir Gerald Kaufman is under attack for incendiary comments about a fellow Jewish MP during Wednesday’s debate on universal jurisdiction. Sir Gerald turned to a neighbour on the Commons green benches, as pro-Israel MP Louise Ellman rose to speak, and muttered: “Here we are, the Jews again”. The MP for Manchester Gorton is known for his strong anti-Israel views. After Operation Cast Lead in Gaza, he compared the actions of Israeli soldiers to the Nazis who forced his family to flee Poland.”
Kaufman has wrote, “Israel was born out of Jewish Terrorism” Tzipi Livni’s Father was a Terrorist” Compared the actions of Israeli troops in Gaza to the Nazis who forced his family to flee Poland.”
It is true that during the 1936–39 Arab revolt in Palestine against the Mandatory Palestine, the militant Zionist group Irgun carried out 60 attacks against Palestinian Arabs and British soldiers. All told, Irgun attacks against Arab targets resulted in at least 250 Arab deaths during this period until they were absorbed into the Israel Defense Forces at the start of the 1948 Arab–Israeli war.
But by no means was the State of Israel brought into existence because of those acts. Ultimately, it was the British refusing to let the refugees in the ship Exodus in 1947 land in Palestine, and their sending them to Hamburg, Germany, where they were forcibly return to Concentration Camps. It was the fate of the ship Exodus that dramatized the plight of Holocaust survivors in the Concentration Camps, and increased international pressure on Great Britain to allow free Jewish immigration to Palestine. As the postwar Jewish refugee crisis escalates and relations between Jews and Arabs deteriorate, the British government decides to submit the status of Palestine to the United Nations. In a special session the United Nations General Assembly voted to partition Palestine into two new states, one Jewish and the other Arab. The decision was accepted by the Jewish leadership, but rejected by the Arab leadership. UN approves partition plan by a vote of 33-13 with 10 abstentions to create a Jewish and Arab state. As you knownow as well as then the Arabs never would accept the creation of a state in Palestine for them.
It is also true that Tzipi Livni’s Father was a Irgun commander, so depending upon your definition of “Terrorist” you might claim that he was, but had the American Colonies lost the Revolutionary War George Washington would have the same thing said about him, and Benedict Arnold declared a hero.
