This bit of an antiChristain cheap propaganda trick is making its round on Facebook posts. It is mostly an argument from ignorance, and mischaracterizion.
Jesus said, “Do not suppose that I have come to bring peace to the earth. I did not come to bring peace, but a sword. For I have come to turn `a man against his father, a daughter against her mother, a daughter-in-law against her mother-in-law – a man’s enemies will be the members of his own household.’ Anyone who loves his father or mother more than me is not worthy of me;” To say the Jews did not mention abortion or homosexual is to argue that it was not recorded, it cannot be said that it never happened, not prove that He approved of anything He was not recorded saying.
Arguments from ignorance infer that a proposition is true from the fact that it is not known to be false. Not all arguments of this form are fallacious; if it is known that if the proposition were not true then it would have been disproven, then a valid argument from ignorance may be constructed. In other cases, though, arguments from ignorance are fallacious as it is in this case.
Furthermore to call Jesus a community organizer just goes to show how ignorance the writer of this blurb actually is. A community organizer is someone like Obama who organizes people to get more from the government. Jesus never asked the government for anything, not for just laws, not for charity (welfare in today’s lingo), nor for free housing. He never condemned the wealthy, and had wealthy friends ( where do you think His tomb came from?). While we have no records as to His views on torture, we do know that He submitted to it willingly to wash out sins away with His blood. As to taxes He said “Render unto the government what is government’s render unto God what is God’s. I will not argue that He was not a Jew, for He most assuredly was.
