So what if the co2 level is the highest that it has ever been it is still less than 0.04% of the total atmosphere and only 0.4% of the total greenhouse gases of which 95% is made up of water vapors. Humans only contribute about 3%-4% of that .04%. Do you know what part of .4 is of .04 is? .016 of .4, not of the atmustmphear, but of the co2 going into it. That is .4 % of 400ppm which is 16ppm of those 400ppm. The other thing is that historically the co2 increase has always lagged a rise in temperature not preceded it. But put all that aside and explain if co2 is driving the rise in temperature why the temperature stopped rising 17 years ago while the co2 has continued to increase unabated?
Now regarding the Global sea level rise of about 17 centimeters (6.7 inches) in the last century.Using speleothem encrustations from coastal caves on the island of Mallorca, we determined that western Mediterranean relative sea level was ~1 meter above modern sea level ~81,000 years ago during marine isotope stage (MIS) 5a. Although our findings seemingly conflict with the eustatic sea-level curve of far-field sites, they corroborate an alternative view that MIS 5a was at least as ice-free as the present, and they challenge the prevailing view of MIS 5 sea-level history and certain facets of ice-age theory. Department of Geoscience, University of Iowa, 121 Trowbridge Hall, Iowa City, IA 52242, USA. The point? The seas have gone up and down with an out man’s small contribution of co2 to the air.
Global temperatures rise: 1934 – hottest year on record
Steve McIntyre noticed a strange discontinuity in US temperature data, occurring around January 2000. McIntyre notified NASA which acknowledged the problem as an ‘oversight’ that would be fixed in the next data refresh. As a result, “The warmest year on US record is now 1934. 1998 (long trumpeted by the media as record-breaking) moves to second place.” (Daily Tech).
Over and over again it is pounded into me by the alarmist when I point out all the early snow storms we are having, and how bad the winter was in Europe was last year that the weather is not climate. Well that is a two way street, and having a few hot years here and there does not show that man made co2 is making it so. And it does not explain why in spite of the claims that we have had all these hottest days on record NASA and the IPCC have admitted that the warming stopped 17 years ago in spite of the continual rise in co2 which they claim is driving the warming.
“The oceans have absorbed much of this increased heat, with the top 700 meters (about 2,300 feet) of ocean showing warming of 0.302 degrees Fahrenheit since 1969” NASA furnishes graphs of the number of monthly temperature profiles for the global oceans, at various depths, through their “Data Distribution” webpage at:
In 1999, to combat a lack of data, steps was taken to greatly improve the collection of observations inside the ocean through an increased sampling of old and new quantities and increased coverage in terms of time and area. Prior to the deployment of Argo the global array of 3,000 free-drifting profiling floats that measures the temperature and salinity of the upper 2000 m of the ocean. Only0 the top 0-250 and 250-500 meters were measured. So we truly cannot know if the heat has increased or decrease below 500 meters for more that 12 years, and that is way too short of a time span to prove anything or even show a trend, but it does not prevent them from hiding the truth and give you numbers as though they had actually measured them instead of guesstimating them to fit the scenario they wish to project. They had to have some way to explain the missing heat, so they have turned to this dodge.
Shrinking ice sheets
“The Greenland and Antarctic ice sheets have decreased in mass. Data from NASA’s Gravity Recovery and Climate Experiments show Greenland lost 150 to 250 cubic kilometers (36 to 60 cubic miles) of ice per year between 2002 and 2006, while Antarctica lost about 152 cubic kilometers (36 cubic miles) of ice between 2002 and 2005”
New study: Antarctic and Greenland ice sheet melt may be a natural event, no consensus on the cause. From the University of Bristol, the findings, published in Nature Geoscience 2013 (doi:10.1038/ngeo1874), underscore the need for continuous satellite monitoring of the ice sheets to better identify and predict melting and the corresponding sea-level rise. Yet, there is no consensus among scientists about the cause of this recent increase in ice sheet mass loss observed by satellites. Beside anthropogenic warming, ice sheets are affected by many natural processes, such as multi-year fluctuations in the atmosphere (for example, shifting pressure systems in the North Atlantic, or El Niño and La Niña events) and slow changes in ocean currents.
Declining Arctic sea ice
“Both the extent and thickness of Arctic sea ice has declined rapidly over the last several decades”
Arctic sea ice continued to expand during October as temperatures dropped and the number of daylight hours diminished, gaining 3.21 million square kilometers (1.24million square miles) of ice since the beginning of the month. Average ice extent for October was 8.10 million square kilometers (3.13 million square miles), making it the 6th lowest October extent in the 35-year satellite data record. This was 810,000 square kilometers (313,000 square miles) below the 1981 to 2010 average extent. The October 2013 extent remains within two standard deviations of the long-term 1981 to 2010 average. http://nsidc.org/arcticseaicenews/
“Glaciers are retreating almost everywhere around the world — including the Alps, Himalayas, Andes, Rockies, Alaska and Africa.”
Giant Iceberg Breaks off Growing – Growing! – Greenland Glacier
12 Aug 10 – You’ve probably seen those articles about a huge ice island breaking off a Greenland glacier. Many of those articles are trying to blame global warming. But before you buy into that, please be aware that Petermann Glacier has been advancing for years.
Glaciers growing on Mt. Shasta – Record snowfall to spur even more growth. 28 Mar 11 – The media have done a great job of covering this up, but the fact is that all seven glaciers on California’s Mount Shasta are growing. Glaciers are growing on two different mountains in Italy – Mount Canin and Mount Montasio. Will you see this in the mainstream media?
India – Record snowfall revives 2,000 glaciers 17 Feb 11 – Already more snowfall this month than 1998 record for the entire month. Think you’ll see this in the mainstream media?
Area Of Thick Arctic Ice Doubled In Last Two Years
31 Dec 10 – It has doubled since 2008.
There are many more of these go to the link below to see them:
“The number of record high temperature events in the United States has been increasing, while the number of record low temperature events has been decreasing, since 1950. The U.S. has also witnessed increasing numbers of intense rainfall events”
Has extreme weather increased in recent years? The science is still unsettled on whether climate change has resulted in more intense hurricanes, so let’s restrict our attention to tornadoes and heavy rain. There is evidence that global warming has caused an increase in very heavy precipitation events–the kind most responsible for major floods. However, there is no evidence that climate change has caused in increase in tornadoes and severe thunderstorms, though preliminary research suggests this may occur late this century. http://www.wunderground.com/climate/extreme.asp
“Since the beginning of the Industrial Revolution, the acidity of surface ocean waters has increased by about 30 percent.12,13 This increase is the result of humans emitting more carbon dioxide into the atmosphere and hence more being absorbed into the oceans. The amount of carbon dioxide absorbed by the upper layer of the oceans is increasing by about 2 billion tons per year”
The claim is that the huge amounts of atmospheric CO2 being absorbed by the world’s oceans is making them more acidic than they have been for tens of millions of years. It may or may not be true, but true or not is no way that man’s 16ppm of those 400ppm of co2 in the air is causing the acidification. If you were to cut man’s contribution to zero percent it would change nothing.
I think that a lot of people just read this stuff and accept is as facts because you believe that their government would never lie to them.
